"IDOL" CHOOSES STEVEN TYLER
"American Idol" is on a mission to save it's life. Nigel Lithgoe has been recruited as the executive producer and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith is the new judge. Kara DioGuardi has been axed, and it looks like Randy Jackson will be staying. This is all after Simon Cowell, in a most public passive/aggressive move (Mars in Libra), did everything possible to completely destroy the franchise before he left. He used his influence to leave the public with one of the most lackluster seasons to date. Who won? Can't remember, and I'll bet you don't remember either. (If you want to know more about Simon, search him at The Psychic Bubble.)
Ideally, I would know the birthdate of "Idol," and I could use that to look into the future and determine it's fate. Since I don't have it, I'm going to look at the executive producer and the new judge. If their charts are good, chances are they can turn "Idol's" fate around.
Steven Tyler is an Aries. Can't you tell by his little boyishness? His focal planet is Mercury, mutable. So he's not as complicated as he seems with only one focal planet. But it is interesting that it's Mercury, because it's a neutral planet -- not male or female and therefore tends to lack warmth. Mutable Mercury tends to make the native changeable with a lot of nervous energy. Mentally, Steven is quite intelligent and driven to learn and express himself. However, his approach can seem very disorganized or even disoriented. And the women in his life can often feel that he is critical and unappreciative. However with his Moon is in Libra, he would most likely hide the nitpicking under the charm. So I'm imagining that he makes up for his lack of sincerity by being clever -- keeping the women in his life very confused -- the public, too.
Steven's chart shows progressed Venus square Neptune. Any progressed square is a time of challenges. This one deals with people you love and people that love you (and the public) and Neptune is always things you are not seeing clearly or things that are unseen (particularly in the case of illness). So with "Idol" already showing signs of instability, I don't think Steven Tyler is going to be popular enough to prop it up.
Nigel Lithgoe, a Cancer, the sign that squares Aries, has that dreadful Moon in Capricorn, also square Aries, Steven's Sun, and square Libra, Steven's Moon. I have no idea how well these two know each other, but they are not natural friends. And, in fact, could be enemies. Another omen that things are not shaping up well. His focal planet is cardinal Neptune so he may be seeing this scenario play out in his head in a way that it won't play out in public. His chart currently has progressed Venus square Jupiter. Since he is behind the scenes, the public not loving him doesn't affect his success, but it's important that the people that work with him like him. With Venus in a square to his progressed Jupiter (money and the public), he may not be able to turn "Idol" into a cash cow. Finally, his progressed Mercury is conjunct his natal Neptune. That makes me think there is some communication going on where he is receiving incorrect information.
Based on these observations, "Idol's" success is going to be a challenge.
