SUPERMOON 2016 - LARGEST IN 68 YEARS!
It's tonight! This is from www.mirror.co.uk: "Tonight's moon will be the biggest and brightest in living memory - and people around the world will be watching just after the sun sets. During the event, the moon will appear up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter than an average full moon. It will be at its biggest in decades, and offer brilliant photo opportunities, according to experts."
Last night the moon was almost as bright, and will continue to dazzle throughout the week, but it will be at its brightest tonight. This supermoon is also unique in that it is also the second in a series of three supermoons appearing in three consecutive months, the first occurring on October 15, 2016 and the next to appear on December 14, 2016.
The moon will achieve perigee (14% closer to earth) at 6:22 a.m. EST and will become “full” at 8:52 a.m. EST on Monday, November 14, 2016.
The Slooh Community Observatory (http://live.slooh.com/) will be providing a livestream of the event for those who are unable to view the supermoon due to poor weather conditions. Slooh’s webcast begins at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday, November 13, 2016.
