YOU'LL NEVER HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE
You'll never have "good" health insurance or even the health insurance Congress has. The Supreme Court, in one of the most significant 1st Amendment rulings in 50 years, overturned precedent and federal law that bans corporations from directly participating in the political process. What does this mean to you?
Normally I would put this in The Psychic Bubble, but I have such amazing readers, I wanted to share this with you in case you missed it, because I almost did.
Nothing fair will ever get passed in Congress if its members have to do what their campaign contributors tell them to do. Without campaign finance reform, they are at the mercy of the people who elect them -- and it's not us -- it's the lobbyists who funnel money to them.
With campaign finance reform, every candidate would be funded by the government and no outside money would be allowed. It would be an even playing field and the candidates would owe no one and the Republicans and Democrats could work together towards things that will make your life better. Why doesn't President Obama address this? Because he is in the same boat as everyone else.
Here's the phone number of The White House. Pick up the phone and call. I do it all the time (they won't be surprised by your call) and say what you think, 202 456-1111. "I want campaign finance reform." And hang up. As I said, they're ready to take your message directly to the president.
UPDATE: President Obama signed a health care bill March 23, 2010, but it only makes a few strategic changes. There's no public option (competition) and the insurance companies have no restrictions on what they charge.
